AUSTRALIA (WTHR) – A woman literally gave up the clothes on her back to help save an injured koala from a brush fire in Australia.
Shocking footage shows the marsupial crossing the road among the flames in New South Wales on Tuesday.
That's when a woman is seen rushing to the koala's aid, wrapping the koala in her shirt and a blanket and then pouring water on it.
The woman said she would transport the injured koala to the nearby hospital.
Australia's koala populations have been a major victim of the flames, with more than 350 of the marsupials feared to have been killed.
The country is prone to brush fires in its dry, hot summers but fierce blazes have sparked early in the season.
