ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (WTHR) - Cat lovers gathered this weekend at the International Cat Exhibition held in Russia.
A variety of precious breeds including Russian blue, Scottish fold, British short-hair and Cornish rex were on display at the exhibition venue.
Among the cats, the most expensive one was priced at almost $24-thousand.
According to domestic media, Russia is among countries with the highest proportion of raising cats, with more than one third of Russian households owning at least one kitty.
In Russia, people need to register for buying a cat, as cats have their own passports and medical records.
Cats which hold passports and have vaccinations on time are permitted to take public transportation with their masters.
