HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WTHR) — The Florida parents accused of keeping their 3-year-old son with leukemia from getting cancer treatment are fighting to regain custody.
A custody trial began in Florida Monday.
Joshua McAdams and Taylor Bland-Ball lost custody of Noah after they allegedly refused to get him treatment for his cancer.
Noah was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and is now in the care of his maternal grandparents.
The sheriff's office actually issued a missing person alert for Noah back in April when his parents didn't bring him for medical care. The couple along with Noah were found in Kentucky.
The parents had said that they decided to end the hospital's treatment plan early and seek alternative methods. They also said that test results after the initial rounds of chemo showed no signs of cancer cells. They said they simply wanted to get a second opinion. Their attorney told NBC News that the parents wanted to treat Noah's cancer with medical cannabis, CBD oils, a strict diet and vitamins.
