Missing cat sneaks into shipping package, makes 17-hour journey to Montreal

A cat named Baloo from Nova Scotia made an accidental 17-hour road trip to Montreal.

MONTREAL (WTHR) – A cat named Baloo from Nova Scotia made an accidental 17-hour road trip to Montreal.

Baloo got inside of a shipping package with tire rims in it and, without the owner knowing, was accidentally shipped to Montreal.

Baloo’s owner Jacqueline Lake told CTV News Montreal, "He got under, so he wasn't on top. He had gotten in through the little hole of the rim down into the bottom of the box."

The shipping company in Montreal got suspicious of the package they received when one of their drivers noticed some urine in the back of the truck and took a closer look.

That's when they discovered Baloo and called the SPCA.

The SPCA in Montreal took in the cat and took care of him until they were able to locate the owner through the package's tracking code.

“Of course she was extremely surprised and extremely relieved when she spoke to us – when she found out that he was found – because she had posters up everywhere, all over social media,” Anita Kapuscinska of the Montreal SPCA told CTV.

Volunteers with Freedom Drivers, a non-profit that transports animals, will take Baloo home.
