HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WTHR) — Cue the tears.

Samford University Athletics shared a three-minute video on YouTube of offensive lineman George Grimwade announcing he is changing his last name.

In the video, George explained how his stepdad doesn't have anyone to carry on his last name.

He goes on to say his stepdad raised him since second grade and feels like he owes it to him for all he has done.

"I just want his legacy to live on forever," George said. "I don't want it to end with him."

George officially changed his name from George Andrew Grimwade to George Grimwade Musto on Sept. 26.

The video continues with George running to the sideline to tell his stepdad of the news and shows off his new jersey with his new last name.

His stepdad is speechless and fights back tears.

"I love you so much, dad," George said.

"You're my son," his stepdad said.

The video has over 27,000 as of Saturday evening.
