NEW YORK, NY (WTHR) — The best of the kindness of New York's finest was on display recently.
Geraldine, a tourist from Ireland, stood in line for four days in her quest for tickets to the hit Broadway production "Hamilton." But just as she arrived at the customer service window, she realized she was short $20.00 for the tickets.
Geraldine ran for help, and it's not clear exactly where she expected to find it. That help came in the form of a generous NYPD officer.
Officer DiCandia handed Geraldine $20.00 so that her four-day wait wasn't for naught.
According to NBC4, a grateful ticketholder sent word of the officer's kindness to mayor's office.
“We were totally overjoyed when he opened his wallet and just handed us 20 dollars. My daughter was crying," Geraldine wrote to Mayor DiBlasio."It was without doubt the best night and would not have been possible without Officer DiCandia's kindness.”
