INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Vice President-elect, Governor Mike Pence talked with NBC's Chuck Todd Sunday on "Meet the Press" about the jobs the Trump team saved at Carrier and the jobs that are still heading to Mexico.
"Let's remember now more than 1,000 Hoosiers have certainty in their jobs and in their futures going into this Christmas season because of the leadership of Donald Trump. I couldn't be more grateful for that. The people of Indiana couldn't be more grateful for that. I know the glass is half empty to many in the media [because 700 jobs are still going to Mexico]-- here's the bottom line: I was in the room when he made the call. What the American people are going to have - and they have now in President-elect Donald Trump - is someone who's going to be a champion for the American economy. He picked up a phone and he said to the leadership of this company, 'We're going to cut taxes. We're going to roll back the regulations that are driving companies just like yours out of the country'."
Carrier has agreed to keep around 1,000 jobs in Indiana in exchange for a $7 million tax break.
Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump is making more threats to American companies who plan to move jobs out of the country.
Sunday on Twitter, he said "Any business that leaves our country for another country, fires its employees, builds a new factory or plant in the other country, and then thinks it will sell its product back into the U.S. without retribution or consequence, is WRONG! There will be a tax on our soon to be strong border of 35% for these companies."
Saturday, Donald Trump called out Rexnord for planning to move 300 jobs from Indianapolis to Mexico.
