WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTHR) — Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) may be new to Congress but she didn't shy away from speaking out on her first day.

Hours after being sworn in, she told a cheering crowd of supporters that the Democrats "are gonna impeach the motherf---er," NBC News reported.

The Detroit native who is one of the first two Muslim women and the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress, is seen recalling her son's response to her election.

"When your son looks at you and said, ‘Mamma, look you won, bullies don't win,'" she tells a cheering crowd. "And I said, baby, they don't, because we’re gonna go in there and we're gonna impeach the motherf---er."

That exchange was recorded and posted online.

Tlaib took to Twitter in response to her comments:

Talks of impeachment have arisen again from some Democratic members, with others urging a focus on legislation. However, the president believes any talk of impeachment is just a ploy to win the 2020 presidential election.
