INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Recreational marijuana supporters are celebrating Wednesday morning after some big wins Tuesday in four states.

Voters in California, Massachusetts, Maine, and Nevada voted to legalize recreational use. The measure did not pass in Arizona.

Adults older than 21 can legally possess up to an ounce of marijuana and grow six plants.

Three other states — Florida, North Dakota and Arkansas — approved medical marijuana proposals on their ballots.

This could set the stage for more ballot measures in more states in future elections.
