Minnesota mom of 11 arrested for DUI for 12th time

A Minnesota mother of 11 children is in trouble again for alleged drunk driving.

RIVERSIDE, Ill. (WTHR) - A Minnesota mother of 11 children is in trouble again for alleged drunk driving.

Police found an open bottle of whiskey in 41-year-old Tasha Schleicher's car at a gas station in Illinois. It's the twelfth time she's faced charges of driving under the influence and she's done it in seven different states, including Indiana.

At attendant at the gas station called for help after seeing Schleicher passed out at the wheel with the engine running. When officers arrived, they say she was trying to fill her tank with kerosene instead of gasoline.

The police chief in Riverside, Illinois calls her "one of the worst DUI offenders" in the entire country.

"She blew a .20, so that's 2 1/2 times the legal limit. She's the poster child," said Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel. "She knew how to work the system."

Schleicher had already lost custody of her 11 children, but she told police she had just been with her 15-year-old son before her arrest. She apparently dropped him off here in Indiana so he could party for spring break.

The teenager is being returned to relatives in Minnesota. Schleicher is being held in a Cook County, Illinois jail.
