Loaded gun confiscated from passenger's carry-on luggage at Tenn. airport

TSA reports a loaded gun was removed from a passenger's carry-on bag at McGhee Tyson Airport in Alcoa, Tennessee Monday morning.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WTHR) — The Transportation Security Administration says a loaded gun was removed from a passenger's carry-on bag at McGhee Tyson Airport in Alcoa, Tennessee Monday morning.

The .40-caliber Glock was seized and the passenger was cited. According to the TSA, this is the seventh time a gun has been taken away at the airport's security checkpoint this year. Last year, more than a dozen weapons were found and taken from the airport.

WBIR reported that passengers are allowed to have unloaded gun in checked baggage if they alert the airline and keep it in a carrying case. However, they can't carry a firearm in carry-on luggage.

TSA warns that all passengers should check their baggage ahead of time to make sure they don't accidentally pack a gun in their carry-on.
