MASON, Ohio (WTHR) — One of Kings Islands' iconic roller coasters is closing for good.
Vortex will cease operation Sunday, Oct. 27 after providing thrills for 33 seasons at the theme park.
The ride opened in 1987 as the tallest, full-circuit roller coaster with the highest drop in the world and the first roller coaster in the world with six inversions.
Final rides begin Friday, Sept. 27 when Halloween Haunt opens at 6 p.m.
2019 and 2020 Gold and Platinum season passholders have the opportunity to ride Vortex on Saturdays and Sundays before the park opens to the public.
