BAY BRIDGE, Calif. (WTHR) - A truck slammed into a Bay Bridge toll booth in Saturday, killing the worker inside and shutting down traffic across the bridge.
Around 5:00 a.m. Saturday vehicles were lined up to go through a toll checkpoint when a large box truck crashed and caused a chain reaction.
According to NBC Bay Area, the truck driver was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter after ramming into a Bay Bridge toll booth and killing the 46-year-old Catrans employee, the California Highway Patrol said.
The box truck then hit a toll booth. The attendant inside, identified as Si Si Han, a 10-year Caltrans employee, was killed. The driver, 32-year-old Daniel Berk, was ejected from the truck and landed on the road, sustaining major injuries.
Han is survived by her husband and 10-year-old daughter.
Police had to close the bridge most of the day.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
