MINNEAPOLIS (WTHR) — Doctors are amazed at the results of an MRI on a 5-year-old boy who was thrown over a balcony at the Mall of America earlier this month.

Mac Hammond, a pastor at the boy's family's church, told KARE-TV doctors said the results of the five-hour MRI were "truly a miracle." He said they described the child's injuries as if he "fell off a bicycle instead of off the third floor of the mall."

Hammond said doctors found "zero evidence of brain damage" and that there weren't even signs of swelling in the brain.

Friends of the boy's family said last Friday on a GoFundMe page that has raised more than $950,000 toward the child's medical costs that he was still in intensive care and was "showing real signs of recovery" despite the long road ahead in his recovery.

The boy was thrown off the balcony April 12. Police have arrested 24-year-old Emmanuel Aranda with attempted premeditated first-degree murder for the attack.
