Authorities say one boy is dead and his brother is in critical condition after a shooting in a suburban Denver parking lot earlier Thursday.
Westminster police say they boys' mother was also shot and sustained life-threatening injuries. She is in critical condition. A man who is not related to the woman or her children was also shot and is expected to survive.
Police spokeswoman Cheri Spottke says all four victims were shot in the parking lot of a business complex in Westminster, which is about 14 miles northwest of Denver.
Authorities are not releasing the names or ages of the victims.
Spottke says a suspect is in custody, but police don't yet know the motive. Authorities did not immediately release his identity.

Westminster police say they located the vehicle that left the scene of Thursday afternoon's shooting, and investigators are interviewing the driver. Police spokeswoman Cheri Spottke did not say what led to the shooting or release the conditions of the victims.
Police officers surrounded the complex that holds several dental offices, using yellow tape to block access to the area and placing evidence markers. The shooting happened about 14 miles (23 kilometers) northwest of Denver.

KUSA-TV reports the shooting happened Thursday afternoon on the northwest side of Denver in a parking lot behind a dentist's office. The conditions of the victims are not known at this time, though the television station was told by police there are "multiple fatalities" in the incident.
The four victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds, KUSA reports.
Westminster Police Department spokeswoman Cheri Spottke says the suspect in the shootings is at large, the Associated Press reports. Spottke says the shootings happened Thursday around 3 p.m.
Roads around the dentist's office have been closed off as police conduct their investigation.
