Vacant home collapses after fire on city's east side

Responders were alerted of the fire around 2 a.m. to a home on North Whittier Place.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — A fire completely destroyed a vacant home on the city's east side Friday morning.

Responders were alerted of the fire around 2 a.m. at a home on North Whittier Place just off 37th Street on the northeast side.

The house collapsed when firefighters hit the fire with water, indicating the house had been burning for quite some time before they arrived.

No other homes were damaged, but the fire did cause some damage to power lines and poles.

There were no injuries from the incident.
