INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Two men were shot Friday afternoon at an apartment complex on the northwest side of Indianapolis. One of the men is in critical condition.
It happened at the Wildwood Apartment complex at W. 38th St. and Guion Rd.
Around 2:30 pm, several people started calling 911 about shots fired. When officers got on the scene, they found two men in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police put up crime scene tape around a pick-up truck in the carport.
Paramedics rushed one man to the hospital in extremely critical condition. The second man has a non life-threatening injury.
This information comes from police who had hoped these couple of days before Christmas would be a lot more peaceful.
"Anytime of the year we have violence, we don't like it, this time of year especially. This is the time of year for joy, love and peace. That's what we like to preach. We want people to practice that. But when we have violent situations like this, this is not going to deter us from doing our jobs and making sure the community is protected. We are out here to do a thorough investigation to make sure whoever is responsible is held accountable," said Officer Jim Gillespie, IMPD.
Right now police believe the shooter in this case got away and are describing the two men as victims. If you have any information on the shooting, call 317-262-TIPS.
Police officers are urging the shooter to surrender peacefully.
