TYLER, TX (NBC NEWS) - Security cameras show a group of thieves breaking in to a Texas car dealership and stealing the wheels and tires off of nearly fifty vehicles on the lot.
Police say the thieves entered the dealership through a secure gate. They were driving a large box truck. The thieves then cut the lights before using jacks and blocks to steal 196 tires off of 48 vehicles at the lot.
The dealership says it took thieves over four hours to complete the theft, which amounts to roughly $250,000 in value.
Police say they believe the group are professionals who travel the country pulling off the same heist at different dealerships.
"By all the methods that they used, it usually indicates they're in a professional ring. They'll kind of hit them randomly. They just came through Tyler and hit us," said Don Martin of the Tyler Police Department.
Another dealership in Tyler was the victim of the same crime two years ago. In that robbery, 26 cars had their tires stolen. No arrests were ever made.
