Student to face charges in bullying incident caught on camera

An accused bully is facing charges after an attack on another student was caught on camera.

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - An accused bully is facing charges after an attack on another student was caught on camera.

The five-second video was recorded in the lunch room Tuesday at Clinton Central Junior High in Michigantown, showing a student violently strike a student sitting at a table.

“He kind of shoved me,” said the victim. “And then he sat down and said something else and got back up. And slapped me and then shoved my head.”

“It was very disturbing actually I wanted to leave work,” said the victim's father.

School officials could not say what punishment the student faced, but that it was handled in accordance to their guidelines. The victim's family’ then filed a report with the sheriff’s department.

“I mean how much abuse can you sit there and take? It’s very hurtful to watch,” said the victim's stepmother.

According to the incident report, detectives went and talked with the alleged bully’s and his family and decided the incident warranted battery charges against the juvenile.

“They need to know that they can’t just treat kids the way they treat them. It’s not acceptable,” said the victim's father.

The victim has not been back at school since the incident. The family said they intend on removing him from Clinton Central to attend another school.
