South side couple wants help finding arsonist that set fire to home, two cars

A south side couple's house and two cars were set on fire by an overnight arsonist.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – A south side couple wants you to take a good look at their surveillance video.

They say the man caught on camera set their house and cars on fire.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday about a block away from University of Indianapolis.

Two cars were torched and three other fires were started around the house.

One of the victims says the suspect tried to trap them inside by blocking their front door.

Fortunately, a neighbor saw the flames and got the family out.

The victims believe the suspect came back to their house just a few hours later.

"I think he was just trying to see how bad it actually was because he didn't come up that far, so maybe he was just trying to see how much damage he actually caused," said resident Alexis Bullock. "Because then he started running away and police started chasing him too."

Bullock says she doesn't know why they were targeted.
