Shelbyville man identified as victim of deadly New Year's Eve crash

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who was killed in a crash north of Shelbyville on New Year's Eve.

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who was killed in a crash north of Shelbyville on New Year's Eve, 2019.

According to a news release from the department on Tuesday, Roger New of Shelbyville was killed when his pickup truck collided with another truck and rolled over.

The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. in the 3600 block of North State Road 9.

Accident investigators determined the white Ford F350 New was driving south on S.R. appeared to cross the center line and crashed with a red F450 heading north.

Ty Rininger of New Palestine was driving the northbound truck. He was not injured.

New’s vehicle rolled on to its top and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
