INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Today is the David Moore Memorial Blood Drive honoring Officer Moore, along with Officers Perry Renn and Rod Bradway, who were all killed in the line of duty.

You can honor their service and legacy.

This is the seventh year for the blood drive and sadly since it started, the number of IMPD officers who have died in the line of duty has grown--from Officer David Moore to include Officer Rod Bradway and Officer Perry Renn.

While on duty, Officer Moore was shot by Thomas Hardy on January 23, 2011. He died three days later as a result of those injuries.

Officer Bradway died in the early morning hours of September 2013 while responding to a domestic violence disturbance. He was shot by Steven Byrdo, who was then shot and killed by another officer.

Officer Renn was shot while on duty on July 2014. He died later that evening as a result of those injuries. Major Davis II has been charged in the shooting death of Officer Renn.

The blood drive in honor of all three runs from 9-30am-4pm at the Marion County Prosecutor's Office on 251 E. Ohio St. in the first floor conference room. Prosecutor Terry Curry hosts this event each year.

Walk-ins are welcome if you would like to donate. Or you can register in advance online here.

The annual event is coordinated through Indiana Blood Center and helps ensure a stable blood supply for patients in need. Hospital demand requires Indiana Blood Center to see 550 donors every day.

Donors who are unable to attend the blood drive at 251 E. Ohio Street are encouraged to donate at any of Indiana Blood Center's seven locations throughout the state.
