A large semi fire has traffic stopped on I-70 in Hancock County.
The fire broke out on a semi carrying cars in the westbound lanes of the interstate around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Pictures and video shared by an Eyewitness News viewer shows flames engulfing the cars on the trailer and a thick plume of black smoke rising from the semi.
Westbound traffic on I-70 is backed up nearly to SR 9 in Greenfield. Eastbound traffic was moving, but is traveling very slowly near the Mt. Comfort exit.
State police say firefighters had difficulty extinguishing the hot, smoky blaze.
