A report out Wednesday says skeletal remains found in eastern Illinois are not those of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer.

Investigators say the remains are those of a man, although they did not provide identification of the body.

The remains were found in March in a remote area of Jasper County, Illinois. That's over 100 miles west of Bloomington.

Bloomington Police were waiting on the results of the DNA test to determine if it was Spierer, who went missing in June 2011.

Spierer's case is still active and ongoing. She went missing June 3, 2011.

The Indianapolis Star reports that Bloomington PD has made inquiries to other police agencies about ten bodies discovered in the Indianapolis and Bloomington areas.

Lauren Spierer's parents, who maintain a website asking people to come forward with information, remain convinced that someone has key details that will lead them to their daughter's whereabouts.
