GREENCASTLE, Ind. (WTHR) — Four south-facing grain silos at the S & W Feed Center on the way into Greencastle have become the canvas for one of the largest art projects in the state. The hand spray painted Putnam County Mural Project is being completed this week by artist Andrei Krautsau, known as “Key Detail”.
Each silo has a theme representing Putnam County and chosen by the community. A bald eagle, farm, violin and covered bridge are the main features of the silos, highlighting agriculture and the arts. The community raised $34,000 to pay for the mural. That was matched by a $30,000 grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.
The mural will be officially unveiled Sunday at a Block Party from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The free event will feature family activities including a bounce house, face painting, games, food, drink and live music.
