Police: Teen arrested for making up attack to fulfill rape fantasy

Police arrested a Pendleton woman after they say she made a false report about being attacked at Mounds State Park in July.

ANDERSON, Ind. (WTHR) - Police arrested a Pendleton woman after they say she made a false report about being attacked at Mounds State Park in July.

Police say 19-year-old Maggie Wallace told police on July 3rd she was attacked by a man while jogging on a park trail.

Police interviewed a 17-year-old who said he met Wallace on an app and the two agreed to meet at the park.

The teen told police he responded to a post on the app from Wallace who was looking for someone to fulfill a "rape fantasy."

Police say the teen had saved screenshots of the conversation on his cell phone.

In a follow up interview with Wallace, police say she initially denied the new information but later admitted she didn't tell investigators the truth.

Wallace was arrested for one count of false Informing as a class A misdemeanor.

"While this is extremely frustrating, on several levels, I am very proud of the work our Detective Division performed," Sheriff Scott Mellinger said.
