INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The Pacers Bikeshare program has now been working in Indianapolis for five years.
To mark the anniversary, the program is announcing an expansion out of downtown.
A federal grant will allow for 23 new stations and 275 new bikes to be added this coming summer.
Those will be along the Monon Trail, White River Trail, Central Canal Towpath and other parts of the city’s bike network including Garfield Park. You can see a map of the locations here.
People have taken more than 500,000 trips on the gold bikes since the program launched.
They have travelled more than one million miles in five years.
Pacers Bikeshare riders have burned more than 43 million calories and offset an estimated one million tons of carbon.
