GREENWOOD (WTHR) — It's spring cleaning season, when many people realize how much unwanted junk is in our homes.
To get rid of it, we often turn to garage sales.
Nowadays though, those garage sales are online.
Carlos Diaz decided to try three items that his family is no longer using: a stroller, a pack 'n play and a diaper genie.
He listed all three of them on LetGo, OfferUp and Facebook Marketplace on Wednesday, April 10.
The pack n' play sold for its $20 listing price in only three hours on Facebook Marketplace.
On Facebook Marketplace, it got 31 views and three inquiries. OfferUp got nine views, LetGo had three views, but neither of those apps had any inquiries.
The diaper genie went up for sale for $10 on all three platforms. It has yet to be sold, but it got 41 views, two inquiries and two offers on Facebook Marketplace. It got nine views and 18 inquiries on OfferUp. And it got 22 views on LetGo.
The device sells for about $40 new.
As for the stroller, the list price may be a little high at $50, but it is still getting some traction. It received 243 views, four inquiries and two offers on Facebook Marketplace, 41 views and 1 inquiry on OfferUp, and 15 views on LetGo.
It seems Facebook Marketplace may be the king of these online selling platforms, at least in terms of number of eyes seeing your items.
But if you're looking for a more specialized website to sell your items, those exist as well.
While Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp and LetGo are all geared toward selling items to buyers in your area, there are, of course, larger platforms like eBay and Amazon Seller Marketplace to offer your items to a larger audience.
