INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Police say one person was killed and a second was critically injured in a crash on the north side of Indianapolis.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on W. 86th Street near Township Line Road.
Witnesses told police an SUV lost control on W. 86th Street hit the median, then jumped the curb and went into a retention pond on the north side of the road.
Two victims were removed from the vehicle in the water. A man has been pronounced dead of injuries he suffered in the crash, while a woman in the vehicle suffered critical injuries.
Police believe weather was a factor in the crash, as a wintry mix of precipitation made for slick roads across the area Friday night.
