Newfields to reopen outdoor spaces later this month

INDIANAPOLIS — Newfields has announced its reopening plans for its outdoor spaces for later this month. 

Beginning June 23, the outdoor spaces, including The Garden, The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park, and The Beer Garden, will be open to members. Those spaces will open to the public beginning June 25.

Entrance to all outdoor spaces will be free to members, but a ticket is still required. General admission tickets for the public will be $18 for adults, $10 for children ages 6-17, and free for children 5 and under. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park remains free to all guests.

Member tickets are available to reserve June 16 at 11 a.m., and public tickets will go on sale June 22 at 11 a.m. All guests are required to reserve a ticket online at discovernewfields.org. Online ticket service fees are being waived at this time. 

The Garden and The Beer Garden will be open to the public Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the campus will remain closed on Mondays. Fairbanks Park will be open to the public daily from dawn to dusk. 

Newfields has implemented the following safety measures upon reopening:

  • Reduced onsite capacity
  • All guests and members will be required to reserve a timed ticket online before arriving.
  • Guests over the age of 2 are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering or mask and must practice social distancing toward others by staying 6 feet apart. 
  • Face coverings or masks will be required to enter the restrooms. Restrooms will be available at reduced capacity for guests inside The Deer Zink Special Events Pavilion, located at The Garden entrance. 
  • All employees will be required to wear a face covering or mask when in public or common areas, or within 6 feet of others. 
  • The Beer Garden will offer limited table seating with tables placed 6 feet apart. All culinary staff members will be wearing the required personal protective equipment, such as masks and gloves.
  • The Museum & Garden Shop is closed onsite, but open online at shop.discovernewfields.org.

Other areas of the Newfields campus, including the IMA Galleries, The Café, The Lilly House, and the Madeline F. Elder Greenhouse, remain temporarily closed until further notice.
