Muncie opening warming centers for predicted sub-zero wind chills

Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour is opening city hall as a warming station from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday and Friday.

MUNCIE, Ind. (WTHR) - Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour is opening city hall as a warming station from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday and Friday.

Other warming center locations include:

Bridges Community Services Inc.

Location: 318 West 8th St.

Individuals can come in from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. There wil be free hot coffee

Muncie Mission

Location: 1725 South Liberty St.

Homeless individuals can enter the lobby 24 hours a day and receive hot chocolate while they are there. Current male residents can stay all day and work in the warehouse instead of having to leave for the day.

YWCA

Location: 310 East Charles St.

Cot clients can stay all day. Women may come in off the streets for warming from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and sit in the lobby.

Center Township Trustee

Location: 1200 East Main St.

Individuals can come in from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and sit in the lobby.

Fire Station #4 at 2744 South Mock St. as well as Fire Station #6 at 1505 North MLK Blvd. will be 24 hours.
