INDIANAPOLIS — Spring officially starts next week, and Downtown Indy, Inc. is preparing for the occasion.
Community volunteers joined the organization's 36-person street cleaning team Thursday to help make downtown a little more beautiful. They go to work spreading mulch around the flower beds along Washington Street.
"Things like mulch are small ways that we can show how much we care about downtown, that we care about it looking great and that we want it to be a wonderful experience for so many people who call downtown Indianapolis home," said Downtown Indy, Inc. President and CEO Taylor Schaffer. "Being able to show how much we care about the area is a great thing. It's a great thing for business owners. It's a great thing for visitors. Downtown is sort of everyone's area for central Indiana, and we want to ensure it's looking its best."
Downtown Indy, Inc. affectionately called the effort "mulch madness" to get their workers and volunteers excited for today's job ahead of the start of March Madness.
