MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - A Missouri man died late Thursday night when his semi trailer ran off I-69 and crashed.
According to State Police, Marklin Kloeppel, 51, of Mayview, Missouri was southbound on I-69 just south of the 223 mile marker around 11:20 p.m. when his rig drove off the highway. He traveled through the ditch and a fence before becoming stuck in mud near a business.
Troopers who got there first broke out a window to give first aid to Kloeppel in the cab. Medics arrived a short time later but were unable to resuscitate him.
A preliminary investigation by State Police indicates that Kloeppel likely suffered a major medical event before driving his truck off the west side of the roadway.
No other vehicles were involved and southbound I-69 traffic was able to move through the crash scene in the left lane while crews worked at the crash scene.
