Marion homeowner finds body under toppled safe in garage

Police are investigating after a homeowner found a dead body under a toppled floor safe in his garage.

MARION, Ind. (WTHR) — Police are investigating after a homeowner found a dead body under a toppled floor safe in his garage.

The homeowner, George Hollingsworth, told police he found damage on his garage door frame on Tuesday, March 12 and suspected somebody had broken into the garage at his home on West Third Street in Marion.

Hollingsworth said his garage was full of clutter and told police he would start going through those items on Wednesday, March 13. When he did, he found his 900-pound antique floor safe tipped over and a body underneath it.

Police returned and lifted the safe to remove the body.

They identified the victim as 28-year-old Jeremiah Disney.
