The Marching Pride of Lawrence Township has landed a spot in the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade.

But, they've got a lot of work to do before they make the trip to Pasadena.

More than 250 Lawrence Township students will march along the parade route Jan. 2, 2017.

Tom Wallis, one of the band directors, talked about what it means for the band to march in the parade.

"The students were ecstatic," he said. "We were absolutely thrilled, excited, off-the-wall. To see the eruption of energy was just absolutely amazing."

The band is working to raise $800,000 for the trip.

They have a website set up where people can donate. Donations can also be made by texting MPLT to 74121.

"We have students who are sending out postcards to family members and extended family and friends," Wallis said. "That's just a few things we've got going on so far."
