The man arrested Thursday night in connection to 14-month-old Shaylyn Ammerman's death has a criminal past.

Shaylyn went missing from her father's Spencer home some Tuesday night. Police found her body Thursday evening in a remote area near the White River northeast of Gosport.

An autopsy will determine the cause of Shaylyn's death.

22-year-old Kyle Parker was arrested in connection with the case and faces preliminary charges of two counts of obstruction of justice, one count of failure to report a dead body, and one count of improper disposal of a corpse.

Owen County Prosecutor Don VanDerMoere said he will continue working with law enforcement throughout the weekend, assisting them in the investigation.

"The hope is that by Monday we will be in a position to make appropriate charging decisions," he said.

Police say others may also be charged.

This isn't Paker's first run in with the law.

He was charged in Feb. 2013 with illegal Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage, and that charge was dismissed.

He pleaded to Criminal Trespass and Possession of Marijuana in June 2014.

Four months later in October, he pleaded to a charge of Possession of Paraphernalia.

He was accused last year of violating his probation and a hearing on that was set for next month.
