INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Police say a man riding a bicycle was struck and killed Monday morning on Madison Avenue north of Stop 11 Road on the south side of Indianapolis.
The man was in the bike lane, according to investigators, and may have veered into the the northbound travel lane where he was hit by and SUV around 6:15 a.m.
The driver stayed at the scene to attempt first aid and is cooperating with police.
Police will be diverting traffic on northbound Madison Avenue while they continue to investigate.
Southport Police advise drivers to use U.S. 31, Southfield Drive or McFarland Road to travel north while Madison is closed.
