PENDLETON, Ind. (WTHR) - A Pendleton do it yourself blogger is trying to use her talents to feed the hungry in Madison County and you will never guess how she did it.
"It's like your passion comes full circle and so while I am doing what I love and creating, I can help feed people," Sara Davis said.
"Originally this entire space was painted gray," she says referring to the front room she was standing in. But she knew she wanted to change that so she painted the bookcase black and then turned her attention to the accent wall.
"Originally I thought about doing the entire wall but I have to be honest, when I started creating it it was like we will stick to an accent wall," Davis admitted.
The inspiration came from an interesting place. She was picked to participate in the Frogtape Paint Over Challenge.
"What it is, is you are given $1,000 to make over a space using Frog Tape as your focal points. A basket of Frog Tape, supplies and a design trend. I had those three things so that is how I came up with our space," she explained.
She put pen to paper and then went to work recreating a design she saw during a recent trip to Chicago with some very personal touches.
"What that is, I was supposed to mix metals. So I have mixed gold and silver and copper," she remembered.
Then she used Frog Tape to bring her design to life, adding some silhouettes of her three children framed in copper, hanging from wooden medallions with a wall treatment in gold.
Her inspiration however came from a very unusual place. From Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana because Frog Tape will award a first price of $10,000 to the charity of the winners choice.
"They can stretch that dollar amount. You can also think about it that $10,000 will provide meals for 40 families in need for an entire year," she hopes then she elaborated.
"It's like your passion comes full circle and so while I am doing what I love and creating I can help feed people."
But first she has to win the on line voting contest which ends this Friday. That's when she will know for sure if she had the golden touch.
