HAMMOND, Ind. (WTHR) - Indiana's first casino to offer sports betting will open Sept. 4.

Horseshoe Hammond Casino calls its sports book, “The Book,” and it's scheduled to open one day before the start of the 2019 NFL season.

“The Book” features a high-resolution LED video wall, six betting counters, and lounge chairs and couches on the main floor of the casino, according to a media release from owner Caesars Entertainment.

“The legalization of sports betting in Indiana presents a huge opportunity for Horseshoe Hammond,” said Dan Nita of Caesars. “We are proud to be among the first in Indiana to offer sports betting. I’m optimistic of the positive effect this will have on attracting new customers to our casino.”

"The Book” will offer wagering on most professional and NCAA Division I sports and is one of 14 entities currently licensed for sports betting by the Indiana Gaming Commission.

Caesars Entertainment will be opening other sports books throughout September at more Indiana locations including Harrah’s Hoosier Park, Horseshoe Southern Indiana, Indiana Grand, Winner’s Circle Clarksville, Winner’s Circle Indianapolis and Winner’s Circle New Haven.

Plans to offer mobile betting through a Caesar's app are also in the works.
