That man has been identified as 46-year-old Kevin Vawter.

Indiana State Police is investigating after a Porter County Sheriff's officer shot and killed a Vawter in a home on McCool Road in South Haven.

Police say the Porter County Sheriff's Office got a call to assist a suicidal subject just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they saw a bloody man through one of the home's windows.

Officers entered the home and police say the man went after one of the officers, who then tased him. A second officer tried to put handcuffs on the man, but the man lunged at that officer with a knife. That's when one of the officers shot the man.
