MUNCIE, Ind. (WTHR) – If you have a parking ticket from Muncie Police Department, they're giving you the chance to pay it off in a different way.

Now through Friday, July 19 at 4 p.m., you can pay off your parking tickets by donating cat food or cat litter.

This offer is in partnership with Muncie Animal Care & Services to help with an overpopulation of cats and kittens at the shelter.

The shelter currently is housing roughly 350 cats and kittens, according to a representative from the shelter.

You can bring your donations to the police chief's office on the second floor of City Hall or drop it off at the shelter.

If you are unable to drive to the locations for donation drop off, you can also call the chief's office at 317-747-4822 ext. 4 to have an officer come and pick up the items you are donating.
