SYRACUSE, Ind. — A northeast Indiana teenager has been found safe, four months after she disappeared.

State police canceled a Silver Alert late Friday for 14-year-old Aaliyah Ramirez. Ramirez was last seen in Syracuse, Indiana, on the morning of April 27, 2021.

The Syracuse Police Department confirmed to 13News Ramirez was found safe in Florida.

Aaliyah was last seen headed to her bus stop, but never made it to school and hadn't been home since.

Her father, Anthony Ramirez, told Dateline NBC in May he believed someone had taken his daughter, amid theories that the girl ran away from home. Police in Syracuse initially believed Aaliyah may have gone to Marion, Indiana, or to West Palm Beach, Florida, where she has a relative.

U.S. Marshals asked the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for help finding Aaliyah on Friday, Aug. 27.

U.S. Marshals investigating Aaliyah's disappearance landed on Lake Worth Beach as a possible location where Aaliyah may have been and on Friday, Aug. 27, U.S. Marshals asked the Palm Beach County deputies assigned to Lake Worth Beach to help find Aaliyah.

Not long into their investigation did authorities see Aaliyah getting into a car. They pulled that car over and found Aaliyah safe.

Two women who were also in the car were arrested. Elizabeth Sands, 47, and Allisa Sands, 25, were arrested on a Kosciusko County warrant for interfering with custody. Both women are currently awaiting extradition.
