MADISON, Ind. (WTHR) - Police were called to a Madison hospital Thursday after a man shot himself inside the facility.
It happened in the emergency room at King's Daughters' Hospital. Jefferson County Sheriff John Wallace said the man asked for help in the ER, took out a handgun and shot himself in the upper left chest.
He is being treated at the hospital. His condition is not known.
Wallace said the man was threatened harm only to himself and no one else was injured, although several were shaken by the incident.
Police didn't identify the man but said he was a 58-year-old from Texas.
Normal hospital operations have resumed.
