Indiana photographer going viral for 'A Christmas Story' baby picture

A local photographer created her own version of the 'A Christmas Story' using a baby as the main character.

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) — An Indiana photographer is gaining attention for "A Christmas Story" themed picture she photographed.

Amy Haehl photographed a baby dressed in a pink bunny suit holding a BB gun lying near a leg lamp.

Haehl told Eyewitness News she always wanted to do "A Christmas Story" themed photo.

"Only 49 days until Christmas!!🎄," Haehl wrote in her post.

Most who have liked and commented on the photo seem to adore her version of the iconic holiday film.

Acknowledging that some may find it concerning to see a baby holding a "gun," Haehl also clarified in her post that the BB gun shown is not dangerous.

"**Disclaimer** the BB gun is made of wood to ensure that he did NOT shoot his eye out during the creation of this photo.," she wrote.

"There were really only a couple of negative comments at the very beginning, I think it had to do with the fact that they didn't understand it was a movie," Haehl said. "I think that got turned into a little more of a reaction than would have initially happened. Otherwise, it's been a very positive experience."

Haehl says she has received hundreds of emails, messages and comments from people who love it and encouraging her.

The photo has been shared more than 1,200 times and has more than 700 comments.
