INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The results are in and Hoosier students scored lower on the new standardized test that replaced ISTEP.
But state officials are trying to make sure schools are not penalized for the lower scores on the ILEARN tests.
Governor Eric Holcomb said he wants lawmakers to approve a one-year delay so English and math scores do not hurt teacher evaluations or the A-through-F ratings for schools. He said he wants to ease the transition, since this is the very first year for the test.
The scores are not available to the public until September 4.
