SELLERSBURG, Ind. (WTHR) - A Henryville man died late Thursday night when a semi trailer struck his disabled car along I-65 in southern Indiana.

State Police say Cody William Whitehead, 24, of Henryville, was stopped on the southbound shoulder of the highway seven miles north of the Kentucky state line when just after 11 p.m. a Freightliner semi-truck, driven by Matthew T. Zartman, 30, of Burnsville, North Carolina, crossed over the fog line and hit Whitehead's disabled Buick. The crash pushed Whitehead's car into the guardrail before it came to rest in the right-hand lane, where it was struck by another semi.

Investigators say Whitehead likely ran out of gas and was stopped on the shoulder with his hazard lights activated. He was sitting in the car waiting for help when the first semi hit him.

Whitehead was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

No other drivers were injured.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in this crash; however, standard blood tests were done and those results are pending.

Police did not cite either semi driver, but they are still investigating.
