INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Governor Eric Holcomb signed an executive order Friday that will relax restrictions on truckers carrying propane.

The order, signed Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, declares a state of emergency in Indiana around the supply and demand of propane, and grants motor carriers an exemption from regulations restricting their hours of service if they are transporting propane.

Holcomb cited the critical need for propane on farms, in homes and public buildings, and mentions long lines at propane terminals that add hours to truckers' days. The order also cites terminals running out of propane, causing truckers to drive longer distances to find available supplies.

The order is in effect until Dec. 2, 2019.
