11 Fishers teens hospitalized after eating gummy bears reportedly containing THC

Police in LaPorte County are investigating after a group of teenagers ate gummy bears that contained THC.

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - Police in LaPorte County are investigating after a group of teenagers ate gummy bears that contained THC.

Police found a 19-year-old male along the 5200 block of County Road 325 West who said he'd ingested an unknown drug, was sick and wanted to go to the emergency room. He told police he was in the area with friends who had also ingested the drugs.

Officers tracked down the home where his friends were and found 10 other teens inside. They complained of rapid heart rate, pain in the legs and blurred vision. Several were also suffering from hallucinations.

Police determined that the teens had each ingested one half of a gummy bear that supposedly contained THC.

THC is the street term for tetrahydrocannabinol, which is an active ingredient found in marijuana.

Eleven 18- and 19-year-olds were taken to local hospitals. Police say six of the teens are male, and five are female. All 11 are from Fishers and have since been released from the hospital, according to NBC station WNDU.

Police are still trying to determine where the gummy bears came from.
