Indiana State Museum, Eiteljorg open holiday train exhibits

If you're looking to get into the holiday spirit, look no further than our museums downtown.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – If you're looking to get into the holiday spirit, look no further than our museums downtown.

The Eiteljorg's Jingle Rails exhibit just opened this weekend.

It's called the Great Western Adventure, where model trains roll through miniature landscapes of Indianapolis and the American West.

You can see Mt. Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, Route 66 and more.

Families we talked with say they love to just sit back and watch the trains ride.

"It's the grand kickoff for the holiday spirit," said Ann O'Connell, who lives in Indianapolis. "You just get to see parts of the country that you either have seen or haven't seen and it makes you want to go there."

There are nine different trains that ride through at any given time. It's on the main floor of the museum. To find out more, click here.

And right next door to that, the Indiana State Museum is getting ready to get its own train rolling down the tracks.

Kids will be able to ride the Santa Claus Express train and enjoy the holiday atmosphere.

That's on the third floor of the museum and it's free with the price of admission. They'll open that on Friday. To find out more, click here.
