Indiana's Governor's Residence is getting a bee hive to call its own.

First lady Karen Pence was scheduled to unveil a honey bee hive Tuesday morning at the Governor's Residence on Indianapolis' north side. The hive and its bees were donated by the Indiana Beekeepers' Association, which also donated supplies and will maintain the hive in the years ahead.

The first lady says the hive won't just produce honey, but also will make the vegetable and flower gardens surrounding the historic residence more productive.

Pence says bees "play a critical role in our state's agriculture" by pollinating plants that make up roughly a third of the human diet.
